Definition of State
/stāt/
noun
: the particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time.

** When I read those two definitions together, the first thing that jumps out at me is “recalibrate the navigation system”.  The next thing that pops out at me is “the particular condition”.

Recalibrate your Navigation System

Right now, more than ever, we need to recalibrate our own internal navigation systems.  Each and every single one of us has one, yet it seems that the majority has forgotten.  We’ve been disconnected from them for far too long now.  With that disconnection comes chaos, and believe-it-or-not, that chaos starts from within.

Recalibrate your State

In my assessment, the particular state / condition is US, not someone or something, but rather ourselves.

When we see how much we’ve truly disconnected from our own internal navigation systems, we can begin to recalibrate – to change the trajectory of where we are going individually and collectively.  When we take the time to look at ourselves with deep inquiry (and a desire to heal), we will naturally evolve as a humanity and learn how to guide ourselves again.  We don’t need a government to do that for us, we can do it on our own.  We are meant to be Sovereign.  It’s our birthright.  All we gotta do is recalibrate and fine tune our internal navigation systems daily until we get ourselves there…

Other Terms for Navigation System

Other terms that we could use for navigation system are intuition, gut instinct, sixth sense, third eye, pituitary gland, hunch, psychic ability, pure knowing, higher self, Divine consciousness, and so on…

… My personal preference is intuition.

I find that when I’m relaxed into it, my intuition guides me.  I connect to it through my body using all five senses (internally and externally).  The more I practice, the sharper my navigation system becomes.

Are You Using your Navigation System?

If your answer is yes, what’s it telling you?  Where is it leading/guiding you?

If your answer is no, how come?

On a scale of 1 – 10, how is your state (condition) of mind?
On a scale of 1 – 10, how is your state (condition) of body?
On a scale of 1 – 10, how is your state (condition) of soul?

Knowing on a scale of 1 – 10 where you are everyday with your state of mind, state of body and state of soul, it will support you in navigating your life better, especially through the ups and downs (and the ebbs and flows) of life.

Feel free to do the recalibration exercise below before answering these questions.  It’s designed to support you on a regular basis as you journey into yourself.  Breath work will definitely help you in recalibrating your internal navigation system (aka intuition). When you begin connecting with all three of your power centers (mind, body and soul) on a consistent basis, your life will change.

Bring peace within you and it will have no choice but to express in the world.

RECALIBRATION EXERCISE

I’d like to share with you a deep Breathing exercise that will support you on Balancing (and recalibrating) your State of Mind, State of Body and State of Soul.   I wrote this one for our VMD column (Balanced Breath, Harmonious Life) back in August of 2018.

Before we begin, please find a quiet place free from distraction where you can sit comfortably for 10-15 minutes with both feet on the ground and/or in a crossed leg position.  This is a beautiful opportunity for you to give yourself the gift of time and Stillness.

We are going to do 5 deep Breathing cycles in a row, with each one getting longer as you relax into your Breath.  You have the option of Breathing in and out through your mouth OR in and out through your nose.  Please choose one and stick with it throughout the exercise.  I recommend using a timer that let’s you know when each cycle is complete.   Also feel free to have a journal and pen/pencil handy to write down any thoughts or revelations you have before, during or after your Breathing journey.

Now that you’re comfortably seated, give yourself a moment to begin relaxing your muscles.  If you find that there is tension in a particular area/s of your body, take a moment to breathe into the discomfort and/or pain and adjust yourself accordingly.  Please feel free to use pillows or cushions for support.

Once you’ve settled into position, place your hands comfortably on your lap and take a deep Breath IN to begin lengthening your back (I’d like you to sit as straight as possible to maximize air flow). On the Breath OUT, release any residual tension that you may be feeling and continue breathing into those areas until you are ready to begin.

Let’s Get Started!

I’D LIKE YOU TO DO EACH CYCLE FOR 1-2 MINUTES.

CONCENTRATE ON YOUR BREATH – IF YOU FEEL DISTRACTED, BEGIN COUNTING OUT LOUD SO YOUR MIND CAN TAKE A BREAK AND YOUR FOCUS CAN RETURN TO YOUR BREATH.

BREATHE IN DEEPLY filling your lungs and abdomen with oxygen.  Count slowly to FOUR as you INHALE.

BREATHE OUT DEEPLY emptying your lungs and abdomen completely.  Count slowly to FOUR as you EXHALE.

CONTINUE TO INHALE AND EXHALE DEEPLY FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AS YOU MOVE FROM CYCLE ONE, TO CYCLE TWO AND SO ON.

EACH CYCLE ADDS ONE SECOND ON THE INHALE AND ONE SECOND ON THE EXHALE UNTIL YOU REACH THE FINAL EIGHT SECOND INHALE/EXHALE CYCLE.

CYCLE ONE (1-2 Minutes)
Breathe IN      1… 2… 3… 4…
Breathe OUT  1… 2… 3… 4…

CYCLE TWO (1-2 minutes)
Breathe IN      1… 2… 3… 4… 5…
Breathe OUT  1… 2… 3… 4… 5…

CYCLE THREE (1-2 minutes)
Breathe IN      1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…
Breathe OUT  1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…

CYCLE FOUR (1-2 minutes)
Breathe IN      1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…7…
Breathe OUT  1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…7…

CYCLE FIVE (1-2 minutes)
Breathe IN      1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8…
Breathe OUT  1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8…
